Louie Marsh shares which former Sheffield United player he models his game on

Louie Marsh is one of a cluster of exciting young Sheffield United players emerging from the ranks right now.

Like so many from years gone by, Marsh has an excitement around from inside the club.

This season has seen Marsh’s progress at first-team level stall a touch. A loan spell with Doncaster Rovers didn’t go as planned thanks to a bad break to his arm. Indeed, that loan was cut short in January.

However, now back at Bramall Lane, Marsh is hoping to make an impression on new manager Chris Wilder.

Wilder has already given a number of young players a chance since his return.

The likes of Will Osula and Oliver Arblaster are among them, while Andre Brooks continues to impress and play a part.

And in a nod to United’s academy, Marsh has revealed it’s a player the Blades produced from the youth ranks who he actually looks up to.

Louie Marsh shares which former Blade he styles his game on

Marsh is predominantly known for his role as a striker in the under-21s. He has scored plenty of goals and remarkably, could even finish as the top scorer this season despite only just coming back.

And while his talents in the forward line are obvious, Marsh has actually shared that it’s an attacking midfielder he likes to style his game on.

Speaking to SUTV alongside Carl Asaba, Marsh admitted that it was David Brooks – who United sold for £11.5m – who caught his eye growing up.

“I’d say striker-ish but David Brooks for me probably. A player I didn’t look up to but someone I like to style myself around and obviously he’s flying now so hopefully I can [follow his path],” Marsh said.

Brooks, of course, has returned from serious illness this season and is enjoying a loan spell with Southampton at the moment.

David Brooks’ career since leaving Sheffield United

Now 26, Brooks has gone on to have a good career at Premier League level with Bournemouth, despite a number of set backs.

He’s played over 100 games for the Cherries, scoring 20 goals and setting up another 15 (Transfermarkt).

Brooks has also made a name for himself with Wales. The midfielder has 26 caps for his country and while he’ll sadly miss out on Euro 2024, he’s a key player for Robert Page.

Like many who have emerged from Shirecliffe, Brooks would be welcomed back to Sheffield United with open arms one day.

Kyle Walker has spoken of his desire to come back. And it would be nice to see Brooks follow suit.
