Leicester City are looking to beat Sheffield United to the signing of experienced England defender, Conor Coady.

That’s according to reports emerging today, where TeamTalk claim that the Foxes are looking to snatch Coady from under the noses of a number of Premier League sides.

Of course, United are one of those teams interested in Coady. Now back at Wolves, he is expected to be allowed to leave for nothing or a small fee.

Leicester trying to sign Conor Coady

TeamTalk reports that Leicester are looking to sign Coady for his experience as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.

Armed with years of PL money and the upcoming sale of James Maddison, the Foxes will have no issue in covering Coady’s current £55k-a-week wages.

For the Blades, that sort of money would put him right at the top of the food chain. And with money set to be tight unless investment is found, United could be blown out of the water.

Leicester have money to spend despite relegation. A number of their players are on wages similar to and more than Coady.

Coady is apparently open to returning to Bramall Lane. He enjoyed a fine loan spell under Nigel Clough back in 2013 and has often spoken of his love for the club.

Sheff U News View: Time to start making moves

We might only be a week or two into the window actually being open but Paul Heckingbottom needs to get some players in over the next few weeks.

Pre-season will soon be upon us and having no new names in the group could be a bad move. The Blades need to add quality and strength in depth and we can’t be letting Championship sides pip us to players like Coady.

If there is a deal to be done for Conor Coady, then United need to get it over the line and quickly. Failure to do so might well set the ton for a long, disappointing summer.
