Leeds scouting £13m Senegal star linked with Sheffield United

Sheffield United will face competition from Leeds United and a host of other clubs if they want to sign Habib Diallo this summer.

Diallo has already been linked with a move to Bramall Lane during the transfer window. Recent reports from France have suggested that the Blades and Burnley are looking into signing the Senegalese star.

But fresh reporting over the weekend has now seen the likes of Leeds, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace all credited with an interest in Diallo.

Habib Diallo wanted by Sheffield United and Leeds

Leeds Live has quoted a report from Football Insider this weekend claiming that Diallo is on the radar of a number of teams.

Interestingly, the FI’s report lists six Premier League clubs as being keen on Diallo and Sheffield United are not one of them.

As we predicted in our summary on the initial links to Diallo, it is likely the Senegal forward will be one of a number of players the Blades are linked with between now and the summer.

Paul Heckingbottom is not expected to have swathes of cash to spend, despite the £180m+ riches on offer after winning promotion. The loan market, and players similar to Anel Ahmedhodzic, are likely to be looked at.

Sheffield United News View: One to move on from already

Well, given we’re now not even mentioned in the latest report, it looks like United are out of the running before this one even got going.

In all fairness, though, we were never likely to be in the mix here. Strasbourg are thought to want around £20m for Diallo. And right now, we simply aren’t paying that money.

That fee, coupled with the wages a lot of other clubs can offer, means the Blades will have to move on.

It’s nice to be linked with such names. Diallo looks a real talent. But this could become a theme between now and the end of the summer.

Hopefully, amid all the links, United do indeed manage to snap up the odd signing.
