Sheffield United roared into the FA Cup semi-final yesterday as a late stunner from Tommy Doyle secured the Blades’ place.
United will now take on Manchester City at Wembley stadium in around a month’s time. A sea of red and white is likely to descend on London for what will be the most difficult of games. As we know, City hammered Burnley 6-0 and have Erling Haaland in the form of his life.
Speaking of Haaland, it will be a chance for the Norwegian striker to come up against one of his best friends in football, Sander Berge. The United midfielder was influential yesterday and will be looking forward to facing off with his international teammate at Wembley.
And over on social media, Haaland was straight in the comments on Instagram after Berge posted after United had seen off Burnley. A man of few words, Haaland simply used the ‘flames’ emoji alongside the ‘folded hands’ emoji to indicate he is hopeful both are fit for the clash.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Clearly, Haaland and Berge will be two of the key players on show during the semi-final. For United, it’s imperative that Berge is fit. While for City, Haaland is almost guaranteed to start given his goals record.
Sheffield United News View: Haaland and City clash is one to relish
Yes, we all know the likelihood of getting any sort of result is at a seriously low percentage. But you just never know in football and this is essentially a free hit for Sheffield United.
The Blades go into the game expecting to lose. In fact, given how Burnley got turned over, many will be expecting City to walk over United and hammer us.
However, this is a clash to savour and the result will be secondary. Yes, it would be amazing to beat City and get to the FA Cup final. But it’s also a day to enjoy and for the players, coming up against the likes of Haaland and De Bruyne on the biggest stage is what they all dream of.
