Dozy Mmobuosi sends message to Sheffield United after winning promotion

Sheffield United won promotion back to the Premier League last night but there was no sign of prospective new owner Dozy Mmobuosi.

Mmobuosi has been in talks to take over at United since December. However, now heading into May, the Nigerian has yet to be ratified by the EFL and Prince Abdullah remains in charge.

Indeed, reports yesterday surfaced to suggest that Mmobuosi’s takeover attempt has indeed hit the buffers.

And taking to Twitter after United sealed promotion against West Brom last night, Mmobuosi appeared to hint that his attempts to take charge are indeed coming to an end. In his message, the Nigerian businessman said he was looking forward to seeing how United get on in the Premier League.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

A number of reports have surfaced to suggest Mmobuosi is ready to walk away, while United themselves are believed to be moving on as well.

Mmobuosi has apparently paid around £9m into the club so far. However, he has failed to produce what the EFL has wanted and with United now promoted, the asking price might have just gone up that bit more.

Sheffield United News View: Let’s all move on from Dozy Mmobuosi

There was a point where this looked like it was happening but now all roads point to this being another failed takeover attempt.

Henry Mauriss was the first one, and it seems Mmobuosi is following suit.

Whether United or the Prince now end up in another legal battle remains to be seen. But the best thing for all really is to simply move on.

United’s immediate future is secure thanks to this promotion. And in reality, there’ll probably be another buyer out there willing to put some money into the club.

Paul Heckingbottom deserves immense credit for dealing with this happening in the background for half the season.

Now is the time to reward Heckingbottom and his players and move on from Dozy Mmobuosi.
