Ciaran Clark has been speaking highly of fellow Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, tipping the Bosnian to go on to big things.
Ahmedhodzic has been a revelation since signing in the summer. Having been identified early by the United scouting team, Paul Heckingbottom got his man in ahead of a cluster of other clubs.
Of course, United also signed Clark on loan from Newcastle in the summer. The Republic of Ireland international hasn’t had much luck with injuries, but has played his part and scored his first United goal against Cardiff at the weekend.
Ahmedhodzic, meanwhile, missed the game. His wife is due to give birth, but he could feature against Bristol City this evening.

And speaking in his pre-match press conference, Clark admitted that Ahmedhodzic is only just getting started.
“He’s had a great season so far. He’s defended well, chipped in with some goals. I think everyone can see how good a player Anel is and he’s got the right attitude to keep progressing. I think this is just the start for Anel,” Clark said.
Paul Heckingbottom has said that there is a plan in place for the Bosnian if he needs to go to his wife. But as it stands, he is available for selection.

Whether or not that’s with Sheffield United or not, remains to be seen. But there is no doubting that Anel Ahmedhodzic will go on to bigger things in the game.
The Bosnian has been one of the best signings in recent seasons. His performances for United have been that of a player capable of playing at a higher level.
At the moment, it’s looking like he might get that chance with the Blades. A few wins will see United up, and Ahmedhodzic will have been a key man in that achievement.
Clubs will be looking in the summer. United might need to resist offers even if we are promoted. But if promotion is somehow blown, then Anel will be on his way.
