Chris Wilder hails 'outstanding' Sheffield United fans

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder hailed his side’s fans as ‘outstanding’ following the Blades’ win over Burnley yesterday.

The Blades boss saw his team run out comfortable 3-0 winners over Sean Dyche’s Burnley. Goals from John Lundstram (2) and John Fleck gave United an unassailable three-goal lead at the break.

A controlled second-half display allowed United to take the three points. More goals could have been scored too, as Lundstram missed another chance. All in all though, it was a fine day at the office for United.

And following the game, manager Chris Wilder was quick to not only praise his team but reference the Bramall Lane support.

Speaking in his post-match comments, Wilder said:

‘I’m not challenging our supporters. But I do think the Liverpool and Arsenal games take care of themselves,” Wilder commented.

“I thought they were outstanding. We’ve given them something to shout about but they’ve backed it all the way”.

Wilder was clearly delighted with what he saw on display. He was particularly pleased with the fact he saw his side score what he called ‘team goals’ during the day.

Predictably, Wilder also made a tongue-in-cheek reference to what he’d be doing to celebrate the win (Moretti or Peroni might be involved).

Nothing to complain about

Wilder can sometimes be a hard man to please, or appear to be in the media.

He’s criticised his team at times this season even though they’ve drawn praise from others. He did this against Liverpool, where despite only losing 1-0, he was bitterly disappointed to see his side lose.

There was none of that today, however. Wilder saw a team implement his tactical master-plan to perfection.

Too many times this season we’ve seen United fail to finish teams off or miss easy chances. The Blades ensured that wasn’t the case today.

A simply stunning display capped by Lys Mousset helping himself into the Premier League record books, makes it a day to remember for the Sheffield United fans…again!!!
