The Blades striker was in fine form once more as Chris Wilder’s men saw off Burnley at Bramall Lane.
A double from John Lundstram and a fine finish from John Fleck ensured United stretched their unbeaten run to four games. The Blades jumped up to sixth in the table in the process.
A blistering first-half display from United saw them accelerate into a three goal lead by half-time. Burnley, unable to cope with United’s high intensity game, looked blown away as the first period ended.

But there was more to the performance than just hard work and grit. A classy look throughout from the Blades ensured they scored three very well taken goals. Central to those goals, was French striker Lys Mousset.
Lys Mousset – record breaker
Mousset failed to add to his three strikes this season but was involved in all of the goals today. Blades fans had been calling for him to start. He didn’t disappoint either.
First, he laid off superbly for John Lundstram to fire home. Mousset was then in the right place to get the slightest of touches on David McGoldrick cross as Lundstram again knocked home at the far post.

The third goal for United showed Mousset at his best. He won the ball back and played a sublime ball through to John Fleck, who smashed into the bottom corner to send Bramall Lane into raptures.
And Mousset’s three assists have ensured he has gone into the record books. As confirmed by United’s official Twitter account, he became the first Frenchman in Premier League history to record a hat-trick of first-half assists.

Beating legends to the accolade
The Premier League has hosted some of the finest French talent in recent history.
Mousset finds himself above the likes of Arsenal legends Thierry Henry and Robert Pires. Going back further, Eric Cantona is up there as one of the league’s best creators and goalscorers.

It’s quite the achievement for Mousset to hold and one he should be very proud of.
