Sheffield United have been credited with being interested in former Liverpool striker, Divock Origi, over the last few weeks.
Origi is apparently a target for United as they move into the final week of the window and look to get deals done to strengthen the squad.
The former Liverpool forward has struggled in Milan since signing for AC. With that, the Italian club are apparently open to letting Origi move on.
However, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, any Sheffield United move for Origi is being regarded as complete nonsense. The journalist took to X last night to confirm the news, suggesting he had had contact with Origi’s reps on the matter.
A move for Origi had always seemed unlikely for United. The wages he’d command, in addition to interest from other clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia, meant this was never going to be easy.
Paul Heckingbottom spoke in the week about some names being linked making him laugh. Maybe, then, Divock Origi is one of those names?

Sheffield United News View: Origi not ideal anyway
He might have a Champions League medal to his name and a goal in the final but Divock Origi is hardly the prolific marksman Sheffield United need right now.
Sure, he might have taken to the club and become a bit of a cult hero like he was at Anfield. But in reality, there was always question marks from fans whether this was a sensible move.
If Origi’s agents are rubbishing the claims then so be it. And in a way, good. It means we can all move on and focus on other targets instead.
United need players in before next Friday. Cameron Archer will be a start, but more must follow.
