Billy Sharp has been singing the praises of fellow Sheffield United striker, Iliman Ndiaye, ahead of this weekend’s clash with Birmingham.
Ndiaye is United’s top scorer this season and has formed a fine partnership with Oli McBurnie in recent weeks. It means the likes of Sharp, who is now back from injury, will have to be patient and wait for their chance in the first XI.

However, that doesn’t mean Sharp hasn’t been impressed by Ndiaye and he used yesterday’s press conference to sing the praises of the young forward.
“Iliman, he’s a breath of fresh air. He’s one person individually who has got consistency. His consistency has been key cos I think last season he was probably a little bit flaky. One week he was unplayable, then the next not quite at it but this season his performances have been eights and nines out of ten,” Sharp said on SUTV.
Ndiaye has been getting praise across the board this season. Sharp’s comments echo those of former United legend Brian Deane, too. The scorer of the first PL goal was full of praise for Ndiaye just a few weeks back as well.

“I’ve been really impressed with this boy since I started seeing him play. I just feel he’s getting better and better and better,” Deane said at the time.
Our View: Ndiaye The Main Man At Sheffield United
It’s good to see Sharp praising Ndiaye here but really, what else is he meant to say? The Senegal striker has been integral for United this term and in a weird way, seems to be taking the mantle from Billy as the main man.
Of course, Sharp will play his part this season. But now well into his 30s, the club has been crying out for someone to step up to the plate and Ndiaye is certainly doing his best to do that.
Another home game this weekend means Ndiaye will be confident of extending his goal scoring run as well, with a packed Bramall Lane ready to watch their star man again.
