Report: Arsenal preparing bid for Aaron Ramsdale; may meet £30m asking-price

The saga around Aaron Ramsdale looks to set to continue for now, with reports now suggesting that Arsenal are ready to make a bid for the stopper.

Ramsdale was part of the England squad this summer. Although he didn’t play any minutes, he was said to have impressed Gareth Southgate and the England coaching staff.

Indeed, Jordan Pickford claimed the Blades ‘keeper was ‘brilliant’, after working closely with Ramsdale.

Arsenal have held a long-standing interest in the United number one. But so far, it’s been suggested the Blades want in excess of £30m for Ramsdale.

However, FootballLeagueWorld have claimed today that the Gunners are now ready to move for ‘Rambo’. Further, they believe a deal is there to be done, even if United do stick to that £30m+ figure.

FLW’s report suggests Arsenal are still extremely keen on Ramsdale. They believe their budget – thought to be over £100m this summer – will be enough to see the Blades accept a deal.

Sheffield United News View: Ramsdale or Berge will go, but hopefully not both

There has to be an acceptance from United as a club, and as supporters, that we will sell someone this summer. In Ramsdale and Sander Berge, United have two saleable assets that can cover the losses from relegation.

Naturally, it would be fantastic to see Ramsdale stay. Arguably, most Blades would rather it was Berge, not the current number one, who was sold.

But if Arsenal do come with £30m then how to the club reject it? The fact is, they simply can’t. Pickford went for a similar amount when Everton bought him, so it’s in the ball-park for what top, young, English goalkeepers go for.

The Blades face a crucial few weeks now. In-comings and out-goings are likely. And they’ll probably shape our season under Jokanovic.

Arsenal do look like they mean business as well. So the longer this rumour hangs around, the more likely you feel a bid is on its way.
