Given Sheffield United’s excellent start to the season before their recent bad run, you’d expect the Blades to have someone in the Championship team of the season so far.

A number of Blades have been fine form so far. Players like Anel Ahmedhodzic and Iliman Ndiaye have caught the eye, while the recently injured Rhys Norrington-Davies was enjoying his best run in a United shirt.

Of course, we are only a few months into a long old Championship season. United now sit fifth and six points off table toppers Burnley. This, despite the Blades sitting at the summit before the recent international break.

However, despite this recent blip, United are still the most represented team in the most recent WhoScored.com team of the season so far. Oliver Norwood, Oli McBurnie and Anel Ahmedhodzic are all in the XI. The Blades trio have all been key for Paul Heckingbottom this season, with McBurnie in particular finding his goal scoring touch once more.

The image of the full XI was shared online by the Championship Chat Podcast Twitter account.

WhoScored use different metrics to determine their player ratings. McBurnie’s goals will have helped him, as will Ahmedhodzic’s from the back. For Norwood, his high passing stats, coupled with two goals and three assists see him the highest average performer of the entire XI.

Sheff U News View: Iliman Ndiaye A Surprise Omission

The Championship Team of the Season is always interesting to keep an eye on. It’s an ever-changing squad given how WhoScored decide their ratings. However, it’s nice to see some Blades in there.

All three have been excellent this season and will be vital for any success United have.

The big surprise really is the lack of Iliman Ndiaye. Most United fans would probably agree that Ndiaye has been our outstanding player. Certainly, it will be interesting if over the course of the season he breaks into the XI here.
