It feels like a huge game for Sheffield United tonight as the Blades travel to the Midlands to take on Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side go into the game with the Sky Blues having not won in four and only rescuing a point against Blackpool at the weekend in the 99th minute. Coventry, meanwhile, sit bottom of the table but there is a sense of falsehood in their position, given their disrupted start to the campaign.
Of course, last season saw United well and truly humbled by Mark Robins’ side. A 4-1 hammering that day could have been more and at the centre of that result was Sky Blues star, Callum O’Hare. The midfielder scored twice and laid another on and could have had helped himself to another couple on the day.
However, in what is positive news for United tonight, O’Hare is unlikely to play any part due to injury. O’Hare did feature for the 21s this week and got 45 minutes under his belt. But tonight’s clash with United is likely to come just too soon for the former Aston Villa ace.
RONALDO, BALE AND 5 FAILED PREMIER LEAGUE HOMECOMINGS
Given O’Hare’s impact the last time the two clubs met, there will be a sense of relief among the Blades squad.
Sheff U News View: O’Hare Injury Is Massive Help For United
For whatever reason, there are certain players who seem to always cause United problems and O’Hare is one of them.
He was outstanding last season in that 4-1 drubbing and while it’s sad for the player himself being injured, Sheffield United fans will be more than happy to see him not included. Victor Gyorekes is hard enough to contain on his own, so the Blades defence will be delighted it’s not the O’Hare/Gyorekes double-act.
On paper, this looks like a game United should win. But form has been poor and Coventry isn’t the best hunting ground for United either. O’Hare being out, though, certainly tips the balance to the Blades.
