Sheffield United go to Coventry City tonight in the midst of a four match winless run looking to get their season back on track.
The Blades have slipped off top spot in the last few game weeks as Burnley and then last night Blackburn, moved to the summit of the Championship.
United will be looking to right last season’s wrongs in Coventry. The Blades were well and truly humbled in March this year and Paul Heckingbottom will be looking for a response not only to that loss, but to the last four games.
The Blades boss has players returning from injury who he could turn to tonight, and that could mean Hecky rings the changes in the Midlands.
Team News
Adam Davies will expect to start in goal as Wes Foderingham’s appeal on the weekend’s red card failed to be overturned.
RONALDO, BALE AND 5 FAILED PREMIER LEAGUE HOMECOMINGS
United’s long-term absentees are well documented but there is positive news in the main. Anel Ahmedhodzic should start after coming on against Blackpool, while Jack Robinson was back in the squad and could come back in on the left of the back three for balance.
In midfield, John Fleck is ready and could be brought in to freshen things up despite Tommy Doyle’s good form. Oli McBurnie is managing a hernia, but like others, could be in line to start given he was on the bench at the weekend.
Finally, Ciaran Clark and Enda Stevens are also back on the training field although they’re unlikely to be risked or put into the firing line yet, with Paul Heckingbottom admitting he is managing the pair carefully.
Predicted Sheffield United Line Up
We think Robinson will get the nod at the back tonight. Goals have been coming too easily for the opposition in recent weeks and with Ahmedhodzic also coming back, the back three will be close enough to full strength.
That will mean Norrington-Davies back to left wing-back after Ben Osborn was largely ineffective against Blackpool.
Doyle will likely get the nod over Fleck again, but up front is where Heckingbottom will make a change, with the in-form McBurnie surely coming back in ahead of Sharp. Rhian Brewster’s missed penalty probably means there’s no place in the XI once again for him.
Here, then, is how we see Sheffield United lining up at Coventry City this evening.
