Sheffield United have moved quickly to reject an approach from Derby County for striker Billy Sharp.
The Rams were said to have made an offer for Sharp yesterday as Wayne Rooney looks to strengthen his pack before next week.
However, per respected journalist Pete O’Rourke, the Blades have acted quickly and are said to have rebuffed that offer from Derby.
Sharp had been on the fringes of things for United but has played his part in the last few games. It is a run which has seen the Blades win three from four, with Sharp scoring twice along the way.
Chris Wilder, it seems, is not willing to let his skipper go just yet. This, despite Sharp being set to turn 35 next and United having a number of attacking options.
Derby want Billy Sharp – No surprise United have said no
There was no chance Chris Wilder was going to say yes to this. Sure, if we had brought other players in and weren’t struggling in the table and with injuries, Wilder might have helped Rooney out.
But we have so many injuries it makes no sense. Further, we aren’t scoring many goals and the ones we do, Sharp is being involved with.
Sharp will be staying put barring a miracle in the next few days and Derby will have to move quickly on here.
