Sheffield United are among the clubs said to be keen on signing Peterborough United striker, Siriki Dembele.
According to Football Insider, the Blades have joined the likes of Nottingham Forest and Fulham in readying bids for the pacey attacker.
Dembele has six goals and seven assists this season across all competitions for the League One outfit. As well as playing as a central striker, Dembele can also occupy the wide areas if needed, similar to that of the recently departed forward, Callum Robinson.
Peterborough are unlikely to sell on the cheap, though. Darragh MacAnthony has previously spoken of his desire to keep Dembele and insists he’ll only consider serious bids. Especially after being furious at his man handing in a transfer request earlier in the month.
Dembele, 24, has also been linked with Celtic and Rangers in the past. He’d fit the mould of younger players Chris Wilder has looked to target and could slot in nicely if United do drop into the Championship.
Blades to bid for Dembele – A tough battle to win
United might want Dembele but they face a tricky task in landing him here.
The amount of clubs interest means a bidding war of sorts is likely to take place. Peterborough, rightfully, will likely sell to the highest bidder.
He is a talent, though. Darren Ferguson previously lauded Dembele as ‘absolutely outstanding’. This, after witnessing him transition into more of a central striker for The Posh.
With just under a week of the January transfer window remaining, this one would be something of a surprise given the are we don’t lack options is in attack.
