The Irishman was once again at the centre of everything United did well and but for scoring a goal, was pretty much the main man for United.
McGoldrick played his part in all three goals and delivered a masterclass in how to play a deep-lying striker role.
Burnley couldn’t contain McGoldrick through the 75 minutes he was on the pitch. A rousing reception awaited McGoldrick when he was eventually replaced by Oli McBurnie.

Signed from Ipswich on a free-transfer (BBC) just a couple of seasons ago, McGoldrick has become one of United’s key performers. 15 goals last season helped the Blades to promotion. He has yet to hit the back of the net this term but playing like he is, those goals will come.

He snatched at a half-chance in the first-half today while he was unlucky to see Lys Mousset not find him in the area.
It was a fine all-round showing from the Blades number 17. The fans, too, seemed to appreciated what he brought to the table.
Twitter was full of comments following the game. It looks like David McGoldrick has done his job in impressing the Blades faithful again…
Outstanding yet again ⚔🔴⚪

One fan was keen to remind everyone just where McGoldrick came from…
Remember. Just over a year ago he was released from Ipswich Town.

Some Blades fans simply wanted to point out just how good ‘Mc-G’ is…
Lunny and Mousset will get the plaudits and rightly so. But David McGoldrick was absolutely outstanding today! #sufc #twitterblades

The most pleasing performance & result of the season – we simply looked every bit a top flight team, comfortable throughout, a routine win. 11 great performances, but McGoldrick in particular was superb – he’s become as important to us this season as Duffy was last season #sufc

Another reminder than John Lundstram, John Fleck, Enda Stevens, George Baldock, David McGoldrick, and Jack O’Connell were all bought for a total of around £1m. All unreal once again. UTB. #sufc #twitterblades

McGoldrick the new Duffy?
Much was made of it in the summer when Mark Duffy left Bramall Lane. The ‘bounce killer’ had been key to United’s system over the last few seasons.

However, McGoldrick is ensuring United don’t miss Duffy one bit. While Duffy struggles at Stoke City, McGoldrick is dropping into the positions he occupied as a deep-lying striker.
He’s the play-maker in the final third for United. Involved in everything good they do.
In a season that needed players to stand up and be counted, David McGoldrick is proving his worth to the Blades cause.
