Aaron Ramsdale is a target for Arsenal this summer but it seems like Gunners fans aren’t overly sold on the idea of the United stopper.
It’s claimed in multiple reports that Ramsdale is on Mikel Arteta’s shopping list for the summer. The Gunners believe a deal can be done, although United are said to be demanding around £40m for the 23-year-old.
What the eventual fee ends up being if Ramsdale does leave, remains to be seen. A more realistic figure would be the £25-30m mark you’d assume.
One issue Arsenal could face is persuading Ramsdale to sign. Yorkshire Live have claimed that the stopper is happy at Bramall Lane. Further, the option of playing second-fiddle to Leno might not appeal to Ramsdale either.
Regardless, though, Arsenal fans don’t seem too impressed. Ramsdale is thought to be the ideal back-up to Bernd Leno. The German stopper has had a relatively easy ride since Emi Martinez left.
Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Aaron Ramsdale reports
You’d think the notion of signing one of England’s best up and coming goalkeepers would excite most clubs. But not Arsenal, it seems.
A quick glance at social media suggests a negative outlook. It seems the Gunners fans want competition for Leno, but not at the price United have quoted for Ramsdale.
Here, then, is a look at what some Arsenal fans had to say on the matter.
Aaron Ramsdale is not an upgrade on Leno for me.
If Arsenal decide to spend £20m+ on a goalkeeper, it should be on someone who can elevate us – we should avoid making a sideways step.
As patent as this sounds, the only way for us to progress is to sell and replace with better.

He’s not even an upgrade on Ryan. Nowhere near. He doesn’t have a single above average attribute

Calling Ramsdale a sideways step is astonishingly generous

Ramsdale is not a sideways step… he’s two steps back ffs

I couldn’t believe sheff utd replaced Henderson with him. I will be mortified if we replace Leno with him. He was the worst keeper in prem last season.

Aside from all of that, if you are Ramsdale why would you go from no:1 somewhere to playing second fiddle at mid-table Arsenal?

It’s not even a sideways step…. It’s a downgrade
