Could Sheffield United offer Sander Berge to Wolves for Morgan Gibbs-White?

With January just around the corner, it’s always good fun to speculate and have a think about who Sheffield United might look to bring in and move on during the window. And when it comes to Morgan Gibbs-White, some Blades fans think Sander Berge might be worth the sacrifice.

Gibbs-White produced his finest display of the season at the weekend. He shone for United as they ran out 3-2 winners at Cardiff City, with the Wolves loanee helping himself to a goal and two assists. His goal was a masterful strike, and worthy of gracing any game, in any league.

But what about January? As things stand, Gibbs-White is on a season-long loan with United. At the moment, there’s no big reason to suggest Wolves recalling him either. Good news indeed.

However, the Blades’ long-term hopes of landing Gibbs-White look slim. That is, of course, unless United can win promotion against the odds…or offer Wolves an alternative. Step forward, Sander Berge.

Sander Berge for Morgan Gibbs-White?

As one United fan put it on Twitter, ‘it’s all a bit fantasy football’. But, it’s certainly something worth considering when you think of the impact Berge has had, and the instant impression Gibbs-White has made.

It’s worth noting, there’s no suggestion of Wolves wanting Sander Berge. Indeed, his injuries have meant he’s had little chance to prove himself this season, and certainly, his value will have dipped from that £22m United paid for him.

However, for the purposes of this article, you have to say there is more benefit in keeping Gibbs-White than there is Sander Berge. Put simply, ‘MGW’ has taken this Blades side to another level. His presence and play in the final third has been outstanding all season. And in recent games, he’s gone to another level.

Of course, it’s just a suggestion. But over on Twitter, the question was posed, and it’s certainly one thing that’s got Sheffield United fans talking.
