While it’s looking increasingly unlikely Sheffield United will sign anyone this January, it doesn’t stop us getting our hopes up.

Just a matter of days remain in the transfer window. The Blades, rather disappointingly, have failed to add to their depleted squad.

Chris Wilder has offered no update in the last few pressers, and seems to be confined to the fact we might end up with nobody. Jesse Lingard, one of Wilder’s supposed targets, is to join West Ham, while Preston’s Ben Davies is off to Celtic.

However, a big win at Old Trafford might just convince the Blades board there is life in the team yet. And with that, could it be possible we do see a couple of signings in the next few days?

We can but hope. And one man who could do a job for us is Arsenal starlet, Reiss Nelson.

Arsenal open to letting Nelson go, he brings different qualities

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta admitted yeserday that Nelson could be on his way. A loan move the more likely option for the 21-year-old.

Nelson is highly-rated in north London. Arteta has previously labelled him a ‘special talent’. He is a player who can do it all in terms of the attacking third.

Versatile enough to play in more or less any attacking position, Nelson could well be a viable alternative to the aforementioned Lingard.

The Arsenal man, 21, has just the two Premier League appearances to his name this season. But he has played ten times overall, including four times in the Europa League, where he has also netted.

The Blades need that bit of spark if they are to enter the market. It needs to be a player different to what we have. They need to have quality, a bit about them, and come in ready to go.

United, then, could do far worse than look to get a loan deal over the line for Reiss Nelson at this stage.
