Former Sheffield United loanee Kieran Dowell is struggling to impress at Derby County this season, it seems.
Derby lost at home to Millwall at the weekend to stretch their winless run in the Championship to five games. They are currently 16th in the table.
And Dowell – who is on a season-long loan with the Rams from Everton – is one player that many fans are unhappy with.

Kieran Dowell. Giving Sunday league players hope of making it professional since 2019.

The future looks pretty bleak for Kieran Dowell right now.#dcfcfans #dcfc

Kieran Dowell, easily one of the worst players I’ve seen in a Derby shirt. Get him out along with a few others in Jan.

Does Derby form mean Sheffield United had a lucky escape?

Dowell spent the second half of last term at Bramall Lane and showed some pretty decent form as the Blades were promoted to the Premier League.

Prior to that the 22-year-old had done brilliantly at Nottingham Forest, scoring ten goals in 43 appearances.
It was actually reported that United were considering a permanent move for Dowell ahead of their first top flight campaign in 12 years.
In the end it didn’t materialise and in hindsight, perhaps it was a lucky escape. Rather than progressing since excelling at Forest, Dowell actually seems to have regressed in his career.
So much so that the Derby Telegraph is having to answer questions from supporters about whether his loan deal can be ended early in January.
