Oli McBurnie was pictured among the Swansea City fans alongside Sheffield United transfer target Joe Rodon.
The Sun on Sunday (October 27, page 61) reported earlier this season that the Blades are interested in Rodon. It’s believed the centre-back would cost around £20m – the same club record fee Swansea received for McBurnie in the summer.
And perhaps the striker could help his team sign Rodon as the two clearly get on. After scoring the winner against West Ham United in the Premier League on Friday night, two days later McBurnie made the trip to watch his former team.
The Swans drew 0-0 at Cardiff City in the South Wales derby. McBurnie was alongside Rodon in the away end, as well as the defender’s brother Sam and MMA fighter Brett Johns.
The 22-year-old was in the stands rather than on the pitch as he is currently sidelined through injury. Rodon underwent surgery on a damaged ankle tendon in October but is expected back soon.

Why Rodon is a potential Sheffield United transfer target

United are looking to improve their defence during the January transfer window. Specifically they want a new player to cover the overlapping centre-back positions.
Jack Rodwell has already been signed as a free agent this month and manager Chris Wilder appears to rate him in the role. Rodwell played in a back three in the 2-1 FA Cup win over AFC Fylde.
However, Richard Stearman has since left Bramall Lane to join Huddersfield Town. Kean Bryan has also been told he can leave the club in January.
Recruitment is therefore needed at the back and Rodon has apparently been on Wilder’s wish list. Clearly McBurnie has a good relationship with his former teammate.
The Scotland international is enjoying life in South Yorkshire – with the goal against West Ham his fourth of the season. If the Blades are interested in Rodon then perhaps McBurnie could help smooth over the deal.
