Kean Bryan has a chance to earn himself a new deal if given the chance against Liverpool this weekend

Sheffield United will face Liverpool this weekend looking to win the most unlikely of three points against the Premier League champions.

In a game that would be hard enough with a fully fit Blades squad, United head into the game decimated by injuries. Liverpool, in fairness to them, have their own worries on that front.

But for Sheffield United, approaching a game against a team like Liverpool with all three of your regular back three out injured, is far from ideal.

However, it means a chance for a few fringe players to impress. And one who might get the nod from Chris Wilder is Kean Bryan.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

The former Manchester City man has done well enough when selected on rare occasions this term. His performance and goal at Manchester United, one of the more memorable moments of the campaign.

Bryan is out of contract this summer. Chris Wilder has already said those things will be dealt with at the end of the season. But Bryan, if selected against Liverpool, has a big chance to earn himself some fresh terms.

Kean Bryan has something, he just needs to prove it again

After standing out against Manchester United, Bryan will be relishing the chance of doing the same against the Reds.

Sure, he made a costly error against Chelsea. But overally, most Blades fans would be happy to concede that Bryan has surprised them this term.

He’s not been spectacular, nor has he been anywhere close to the levels we’re used to seeing from Jack O’Connell in that position. But in terms of reliability, work ethic, and trying to implement what Wilder wants, nobody can really fault Bryan.

This weekend gives him a chance to show once again that he belongs at the club. He has credit in the bank from that Old Trafford.

Surely, then, if he can snuff out the threat from the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, it does his chances of a new deal no harm at all.

Of course, it’s a tough task. But Bryan will be up for the challenge if given the nod and can give Chris Wilder a gentle nudge with a good display.
