Arsenal fans reaction should convince Aaron Ramsdale to stay at Sheffield United

As speculation surrounding Aaron Ramsdale and Arsenal continues to drag on into the season, there’s a big decision for both the player, and both clubs involved to make now.

United are said to be digging their heels over a £30m+ fee for Ramsdale. On the other hand, the Gunners are said to be cautious about paying such money for the Blades number one. However, they still keen, and are expected to make another bid soon.

But while nobody would begrudge Ramsdale a move to one of English football’s biggest and most historic clubs, the stopper himself should really consider what the reaction would be from Arsenal fans, should he join.

And a glance at social media, plus a few Arsenal blog sites, would suggest he’s not exactly going to be welcomed with open arms.

Arsenal fans’ minds are made up on Ramsdale

After Ramsdale was left out of United’s Carabao Cup win last night, Arsenal fans were quick to notice. It means that the goalkeeper isn’t cup-tied, allowing him to feature for the Gunners if needed – and if they sign him

But, you only had to look at some Arsenal fan reaction to get the negative picture being painted around Ramsdale’s potential arrival. As covered by The Boot Room, Gunners fans simply don’t want ‘Rambo’. Especially at the prices being mentioned.

Another article published today by the blog site, Suburban Gooners, believes Ramsdale is ‘average’, and that Arsenal should avoid splashing out.

Honestly, I don’t think there has been a potential transfer that has been met with such negative vibes, in all my year’s supporting The Arsenal,” the Suburban Gooners write.

“We need a ‘keeper who exudes his own confidence, even when the chips are down, but I’m not getting the ‘feels’ that this is the case with Ramsdale. And that is what worries me. This feels like it’s only going to end one way if it happens, which is with another guy we bought for big money who a year or two down the line, goes for half what we paid for him.”

If Ramsdale is serious about signing for the Gunners, then he should be aware he faces an uphill task with some of their fans already.

Stay at Bramall Lane, and he’s guaranteed the number one spot. He’s also guaranteed patience and love from the fans. Something that he simply won’t get in North London.
