Liverpool came to Bramall Lane and took all three points last night as Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United return ended in defeat.
There was a lot to like about United’s performance on this occasion, though. The Blades created a few decent chances and limited Liverpool to just a handful of clearcut efforts themselves.
In the end, Virgil van Dijk’s volley and an injury time striker from Dominik Szoboszlai ensured a 2-0 win for the away side.

For United, there was plenty to build on. Defensively they were better. Midfield seemed more solid and in attack, the likes of Archer and Osula looked a threat on the break.
However, for Jurgen Klopp, it was the long throws of former Reds defender Jack Robinson that impressed him the most, with the German coach admitting he’d not seen anything like it for some time.
“Tricky evening. One of the best throw ins I have seen for ages. After 20 yards they were still going up. Wow,” Klopp said on Amazon.
Blades must utilise Robinson throws to pick up points
This was much more like it from Sheffield United.
The effort was there and while Liverpool probably never looked like losing the game, there was something for the Bramall Lane crowd to cling onto.
In terms of Klopp’s comments on Robinson’s long throws, that is something United need to start utilising more and ultimately, doing better off them.
Robinson’s ability to launch what is like another corner is something the Blades should be getting more success from. Of course, it might be a bit better when the likes of McBurnie and Egan are in the XI.
However, it’s something to work on even more in training. United are going to need the odd goal to win games and if we sneak a few from Robinson’s talent here, then it might just give us a chance.
