Teenage Sheffield United duo give Heckingbottom food for thought ahead of Premier League

Sheffield United’s success continued yesterday as the Blades under-21s side picked up their third PDL North Championship.

A rampant 7-1 win over Colchester saw the young Blades show their credentials for the future with yet another eye-catching performance.

United have become well-known for producing young talent over the years. And two players who’ve been in and around the first-team this season, Will Osula and Louie Marsh, showed their qualities by netting hat-tricks apiece in the win over Colchester.

The teenage duo showed an array of impressive finishing with their triples. Certainly, the watching Jack Lester will have liked what he saw.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Osula and Marsh big talents

Both Osula and Marsh are already on the radar of Paul Heckingbottom. Osula has been in a number of matchday squads after returning from a loan spell with Derby. Marsh, meanwhile, has also got himself on the bench after scoring more than 20 goals for the 21s this season.

Ahead of what is set to be a big Premier League season, having the likes of Marsh and Osula coming through the ranks is a massive bonus.

Naturally, neither are likely to really be pushing the first-team at the highest level just yet. But with United now in the top-flight, Championship and League One clubs are likely to be sniffing. Loan spells for both can only help, and if they do well up until January, then depending on how the season is going, Hecky could even be tempted to use them.

Self-sustaining

With the Blades’ current mantra being about being a self-sustaining club, seeing the likes of Marsh and Osula emerging is good to see.

We’ve already seen Daniel Jebbison develop into a first-team player. ‘Jebbo’ played really well when coming against Preston at the weekend. As it stands, he’s expected to be involved in the Premier League squad.

With Marsh and Osula, they key is managing their next steps. Loan spells make sense. Both short and long-term.

If successful, it means United either get a player back who is closer to being ready for first-team action. And if not, United have themselves two saleable assets who can bring money back into the coffers.
