Sheffield United are reportedly on the verge of signing Derby County defender, Jayden Bogle, as Chris Wilder appears to finally be close to landing a few targets.

The Telegraph claims the Blades are close to completing a triple signing in the coming days, with Bogle, fellow Rams defender Max Lowe, and West Brom forward, Oliver Burke, all set to arrive at Bramall Lane.

Bogle’s name has come out of the blue somewhat. The Derby ace was not one of the many names mentioned in the past few weeks and Chris Wilder has, it seems, once again pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

The 20-year-old has been a regular at Derby for the last few seasons and should provide George Baldock with actual competition this season. Indeed, Baldock played every minute last term, something which surely cannot continue.

And Bogle has seemingly impressed those at Pride Park in the past, with RamsTV pundit Kevin Wilson previously calling the youngster one of the best in the Championship. (quotes via Derby’s official website)

“Jayden Bogle is up there as the best right-back in the Championship and as good as some of those playing in the Premier League. He made a mistake at Forest, but it happens to players all the time on the pitch. For Jayden, it’s about how he comes out of it and how he goes forward now. He will learn from it I am sure because as players that’s what it is all about.”

Consistency and contributions

The young full-back has played 91 times for Derby, predominantly as a right-back. However, he can fill in at centre-half if needed and given his quality on the ball, is adept higher up the pitch too.

Bogle has contributed heavily in those 91 appearances. Despite scoring just the three goals, he has provided 17 assists, a pretty impressive number given his age and position.

Frank Lampard was a big fan of the youngster, too. Bogle played 50 times under Lampard at Derby as the former Chelsea midfielder offered the youngster license to roam from full-back. It was a fruitful season for Bogle, too, as he notched nine assists and two goals as the Rams reached the play-off final.
