Tim Sherwood casts doubt on Rhian Brewster's Sheffield United move

Sky Sports pundit, Tim Sherwood, has questioned whether Sheffield United can get the best out of new signing Rhian Brewster.

The 20-year-old completed his move to Bramall Lane three weeks ago and is in line to start the game against his former club this evening at Anfield.

Brewster will be tasked with giving the Blades added firepower up front in what has been a toothless season so far as United have scored just two Premier League goals.

And Sherwood, speaking on Sky’s Soccer Saturday, today, has questioned whether Chris Wilder’s men can create the chances to allow Brewster to flourish in the red and white.

“Hopefully he can. But are Sheffield United going to create enough chances for him? They’ve been found out a bit. Can’t score goals, can’t keep clean-sheets, it’s going to be a tough game for them”, Sherwood said.

Brewster didn’t get any Premier League playing time while with Liverpool but scored 12 times at Swansea City last term during an explosive loan spell.

Furthermore, United missed a number of chances last week that the Blades newboy may have been licking his lips at.

Time will tell, but it’s some fuel for United here

Sherwood is entitled to his opinion and it does have some basis. The stats don’t lie. We aren’t scoring goals and we aren’t creating chance after chance like we did at times last year.

But, things have started to click a little bit in the last few weeks. Oli McBurnie missed a host of chances last weekend that Brewster might have fancied taking on. So, the signs are there at least.

Time will tell with the signing of young Brewster. The talent is there, it’s just United are going through a tough period. But, given he’s the club’s record signing, he may well relish the opportunity of being the man to bring the Blades out of their slump.
