Chris Wilder has insisted something needs to change at the football club after seeing Sheffield United striker Rhian Brewster go down injured again.
Brewster played well last weekend against Wolves and was fine in training all week before breaking down ahead of the Arsenal game with another hamstring problem.
This is now the fourth time Brewster has had an issue with hamstrings since signing. The former Liverpool striker has had a torrid time since arriving both in terms of form and now his injury issues.
And speaking about Brewster’s latest problem after the Arsenal hammering last night, Chris Wilder insisted that some big decisions need to be made.
Chris Wilder discusses Rhian Brewster
Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Wilder pulled no punches and admitted that the club needs to do something different now when it comes to Brewster.
“It’s incredible, we had a recovery day and then he trained Thursday and he went down in a heap we thought he’d just turned his ankle over. He was devastated, quite emotional about it as well because of the work he’s put in and the performance he produced at Molineux. So it’s, you know, there’s so many things we need to address going forward to make us more robust, whether it’s individuals or as a team to get that right. We keep chopping and changing, making physical subs and players who are not ready to step out there, you can never get any continuity,” Wilder said.
“I don’t think it’s his season over but we’ve got to look where he goes because this is not doing him any good, as myself or for the football club for his medium and long-term future. We might have to just strip it completely back and lose him for the season to make sure he’s right for next season because this can’t continue and can’t go on.”

An overriding problem at Sheffield United
The issue with injuries goes all the way back to when Wilder was about to leave before and through the entire time of Paul Heckingbottom’s time in charge.
The amount of players we’ve had out is quite ridiculous and on a personal level for Rhian Brewster, this is just another devastating blow for him.
At the end of the day, this is a young man trying to forge a career in the game and it’s effectively been taken away from him the last few seasons.
As Wilder hints at here, something is wrong somewhere in the process at the club and we’ve paid the price, with Brewster being one of the main sufferers.
This needs sorting for next season. End of.
