‘The worst ever’…Richard Keys makes ‘awful’ Sheffield United assessment after Brighton

Sheffield United’s miserable season continued as the Blades were hammered once again by Brighton at Bramall Lane.

The Seagulls made sure they scored ten goals in just two visits to the lane in recent weeks as they ruthlessly took United apart over the course of 90 minutes.

United’s cause was ruined from the 13th minute onwards when Mason Holgate produced the most idiotic of challenges to get a red card. From there, it was quickly 2-0 and despite showing some spirit for 20 minutes in the second half, United wilted again.

And Richard Keys, speaking for BEIN Sports has said that while United might have more points than Derby County’s all-time low of 11, that this current Blades side are the worst ever.

“I know the facts are that Derby County were the worst ever when they were relegated with 11 points but I’m going to put it to you that we have just watched the worst Premier League team ever. I think they are hopeless. That’s the fifth time this season they’ve conceded five goals or more. They’re awful,” Keys said.

Hard to argue

Sheffield United this season are becoming a bit of a joke. We are consistently being hammered live on TV and the entire league must be looking at us as laughing stocks.

Newcastle, Aston Villa and now Brighton, all at home, and the Blades have shipped 18 goals in just those three games without a single goal in reply.

Richard Keys is certainly one to divide opinion in the footballing world but he’s not far off being bang on here.

Quite what Chris Wilder and Alan Knill can do about this slump is open to debate. But the little uptick in performances that was initially there is now well and truly done and United look worse and worse.

Relegation can’t come soon enough, while some players will definitely not be getting new contracts in the summer and rightly so.
