It’s been widely publicised on social media already, but former Sheffield United defender, Terry Kennedy, is now a millionaire after scooping a £1m lottery prize this week.
Kennedy’s name was doing the rounds on Twitter early this week as videos surfaced to show him being confirmed as a £1m winner. Local press have since picked up on the story, which has been well-received by Sheffield United fans.
After seeing his Blades career wrecked through injury, few would begrudge Kennedy the chance at pocketing some big money. But just how much did he play for Sheffield United? And what happened to those he played alongside and against? We’ve had a little delve into the history books.
How Many Times Did Terry Kennedy Play For Sheffield United?
Kennedy was highly-rated at Sheffield United. In fact, he was part of the famed youth team which eventually succumbed to a star-studded Manchester United side over two legs in 2011. Over those two fixtures, Kennedy came up against the likes of Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison, and Jesse Lingard.

Alongside Kennedy at the heart of the back four was a certain Harry Maguire. In fact, of that young Blades squad, Maguire and goalkeeper George Long are the only recognisable names. Jordan Slew moved to Blackburn for more than £1m, but never kicked on.
In terms of league games for United, Kennedy did get his time to shine in League One. He did actually make his league debut in the Championship during a 4-0 defeat against Swansea.
Kennedy’s finest moments in red and white came in the 2014/15 season under Nigel Clough. The tough defender made 10 starts that season, before seeing injuries gradually take over and essentially ruin his career.
The following season, Kennedy managed just one 45 minute spell under Nigel Adkins, against Port Vale. He never played again for the Blades.
When you look at how Kennedy’s career went compared to that of former defensive partner Maguire, then few will begrudge this former Blade his little moment in the sun.
