Norwich striker Teemu Pukki believes that Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Norwood is the best overall midfield player in the entire league.
Norwood has been instrumental once again for United this season. Playing in his usual deep lying role in the middle, Norwood has dictated play and shown everyone just how good he is this season.
Of course, Norwood was key as United not only went up but then stayed in the PL as well. And speaking to the Football Daily YouTube channel, Pukki has said that Norwood is the best around right now.
“I would probably say Oliver Norwood is the best. He’s been doing it for a while for them. He’s good at dictating how the games go and they’ve been doing good this year,” Pukki said.

“He’s one of those guys like other teams make sure he doesn’t get the ball so much. He makes the game hard for other teams and he did for us as well.”
Norwood has been an ever present for United under Paul Heckingbottom. However, like a number of others, he is out of contract this summer and thought to be among the players Heckingbottom has asked to be renewed.
Sheff U News View: United haven’t had many better than Ollie Norwood
There’ll always be players that fans point to throughout history for being the best. However, there can’t be much doubt that Norwood is right up there in terms of midfielders.
Certainly, in the last decade or so he’s in the top three, if not the best the Blades have had. When he isn’t playing, his loss is harshly felt and United look like a completely different team.
This nod from Pukki effectively shows how well-regarded Norwood is. And if anyone in this Blades side is deserving of a new contract, then it’s the Burnley born midfielder.
