Team News: Sheffield United could be without Ben Davies for Hull City

Sheffield United travel to Hull City tomorrow for the lunch-time kick-off in the Championship, but Slavisa Jokanovic could be without a number of key players.

Despite admitting in midweek that Ben Osborn is set to return, the news is far less positive when it comes to a number of other Blades stars. Among those who could be missing are Ben Davies, David McGoldrick, Lys Mousset, and Irish defender, Enda Stevens.

Liverpool loanee Davies is struggling with a calf injury. And while it’s thought to be nothing serious, the trip to Hull could come too soon. The same can also be said for Enda Stevens. The left-back will be chomping at the bit to get back involved.

However, per Yorkshire Live, Enda only returned to training yesterday and is likely to miss out on selection tomorrow.

Attacking duo Mousset and McGoldrick are also still on the treatment table at Bramall Lane. Jokanovic, though, believes the pair will return to the fold next week.

All four players would like to think they have a chance of being in the manager’s starting XI for much of this season. But for now, and with others doing well, they may have to be patient.

Depth

As we highlighted earlier in the week on Sheffield United.News, those calibre of player being missing only shows how much depth the Blades have.

All four can stake claim to being in the starting XI regularly. Likewise, all four will feel hard to if they don’t play a big part this season.

Davies and Stevens are the two out of the four who are most likely to be given the nod from Jokanovic. Davies was signed to play, it’s as simple as that. Stevens, meanwhile, is better than Rhys Norrington-Davies as things stand.

McGoldrick and Mousset are intriguing options. ‘Didzy’ has been integral now for some time. But where he fits in the new system is up for debate.

Mousset is also of interest. He started the game against Birmingham and looked sharp enough in fairness to him. But with so many attacking options, Jokanovic has quite the call to make in the coming weeks.
