Paul Heckingbottom has been giving the latest Sheffield United team news as the Blades prepare to take on Swansea City tomorrow evening.
Fresh off the back of a strange weekend when football ground to a halt, Heckingbottom must now refocus his players as they look to make it two away wins on the bounce against Russell Martin’s side. United hammered the Swans at Bramall Lane back in February and took a point at the Liberty all the way back in August 2021, so the Blades will be confident of a result.
And while the weekend football break due to the death of HRH Queen Elizabeth II didn’t sit well with everyone in the footballing sphere, for United, it has helped a few players’ recovery. Speaking in his pre-match press conference today, manager Heckingbottom confirmed that three players in particular will have benefitted from the weekend off.
“It means someone like Bill has had a couple more training sessions which is good, and he’s just done a little bit extra there today.

“Anel is over his illness so that’s probably done us a bit of a favour. He would have played Saturday no problem but he was ill all last week, so that’s a good thing. And another few days’ rest for George’s back which he has been carrying,” Heckingbottom said.
Our View: Boost For United Ahead Of Swansea
The weekend circumstances were a rarity and there was not a lot that could be done from the authorities or anyone else involved without any sort of criticism coming their way.
However, regardless of what happened this weekend, it’s back to business for United and having those three players Heckingbottom mentioned here back in business is a real boost for the Blades.
Sharp will be a big boost to come off the bench now he’s back while having Ahmedhodzic fit is key for any chances of promotion we have this season. Keeping Baldock fit, too, is vital with Jayden Bogle being out.
All in all, it’s good news for Hecky and United and over the coming weeks, we’ll hope to see a few more faces back.
