Sheffield United boss, Slavisa Jokanovic, insisted his team could have done more at Hull yesterday, despite running out 3-1 winners against the Tigers.
Goals from John Egan (2), and Billy Sharp, ensured the Blades came away with three points from a well contested Yorkshire derby. Sharp also missed a penalty just before half-time.
Jokanovic opted to make a few changes for the trip. In came Rhian Brewster, Ben Davies, Ben Osborn, and Conor Hourihane. Indeed, Davies’ presence in particular seemed to give United a more solid feel in defence.
But despite the comfortable win and three points, Jokanovic told Yorkshire Live that he wants even more from this Blades side.

“I thought we were missing our killing spirit and a habit for not giving the opposition team chance to come back. A lot of the times we had the space to try and be more dangerous but we did not show enough intention to score the goal,” Jokanovic said.
“In the end we did score the goals to win the game, but if you want to be fighting for the targets that we are fighting we need to grow up. We are in some kind of the process, but it’s not enough, we need to grow up and keep going forward.”
The win made it seven points from a possible nine for United this week and took their unbeaten run to four in the Championship.
Our View: Jokanovic a winner, and he shows it with Hull assessment
There’s no time for pleasantries and letting things slide when it comes to Jokanovic you feel. He is simply here to do a job, and that job is to win games and, ultimately, win promotion.
You can feel that in his comments here. Yes, he’s happy to take three points, but he wanted more from his team and he made that clear.
“We need to show more. I miss the body language of my team. I came here to really win the game because we are the better team and I wanted to mark my territory,” Jokanovic added in his comments.
If that is a sign of the standards the Blades boss is setting and the demands he has on his team, then that can only be a positive.
Hopefully, the coming weeks can yield even more positive results for Jokanovic and this Sheffield United squad.
