Report: Sheffield United teenager spotted playing for Sheffield Wednesday U21s today

Sheffield United youngster, Hassan Ayari, has been spotted playing for Sheffield Wednesday under-21s today.

The Tunisian youth international only returned to Bramall Lane last week from a loan spell with Scarborough. At the time, it was unclear why that spell was cut short. But now, it looks more apparent.

The Sheffield Star reports today how Ayari turned out for the Owls against Peterborough this afternoon.

Ayari was apparently played on the left-wing as one of Wednesday’s triallists in the fixture. The 19-year-old has impressed at Shirecliffe in recent years but seems some way off making the grade at first-team level for now.

However, a move over to the other side of Sheffield seems an odd one from Ayari. Sheffield United fans won’t be too impressed, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be taken on or not by the Owls.

The Blades, meanwhile, are currently preparing to face Bristol City tomorrow evening. Prior to the game, Paul Heckingbottom has told United fans not to expect a new contract for Iliman Ndiaye any time soon.

Well, he’s probably just trying to forge a career in the game and who he does that with is his choice. But there’ll be plenty of fans who this doesn’t sit right with.

Put simply, you just don’t go to the other side. Sure, it’s an opportunity for Ayari to play. The Owls, as we know, are languishing in League One and are a million miles away from United’s level. Ayari, then, might see an opening in their first-team he can seize upon.

However, should Wednesday not take him on, it will be interesting to see what his next move is. He had been doing well for the United 21s before. But after going to Hillsborough, he might well have run before he’s walked at Bramall Lane.
