Sheffield United play host to Carlisle tonight in the Carabao Cup, as Slavisa Jokanovic gets another chance to implement his ways of working.
The Blades lost out on the opening day of the Championship season, as Birmingham City ran out 1-0 winners at Bramall Lane. It was a frustrating night for Jokanovic and his side, who had over 75% of the ball but failed to really trouble the Blues’ goalkeeper.

The game against Carlisle tonight, though, gives Jokanovic and his players another bite at the cherry. And while some changes will undoubtedly be made, there’s an expectancy that a lot of the first XI will play, given United’s lack of pre-season.
Stick or twist?
Two players who may not play are Aaron Ramsdale and Sander Berge. The pair are still wanted men. United will be mindful of making either player cup-tied. Indeed, reports claim this is a key factor in Arsenal’s pursuit of Ramsdale.

Beyond that, Jokanovic might choose to give a few younger players the chance to stake a claim. Regan Slater and Zak Brunt could get an opportunity, while Rhian Brewster could also get the nod up top.
In defender, Jayden Bogle could get minutes in place of George Baldock. At left-back, we could also see Max Lowe or Rhys Norrington-Davies get minutes.
Here, then, is our predicted XI as Sheffield United take on Carlisle this evening.
