Sheffield United are now sweating on the fitness of Oli McBurnie ahead of the crucial clash with Norwich City tomorrow.
The Blades head back to Bramall Lane looking to stem the tide on a run of five games without a win. It’s just two points from 15 for United, who have lost their grip on top spot. However, a win could see the Blades move back to the summit given the nature of the Championship.
However, while United fans are aware of McBurnie’s hernia problem, The League Paper is reporting today that the Blades are still yet to be 100% certain on if McBurnie will feature against Norwich.
The big striker has been one of the shining lights for United this season. He is second in the top scorers list, with five goals leaving him just shy of Iliman Ndiaye.
RONALDO, BALE AND 5 FAILED PREMIER LEAGUE HOMECOMINGS
McBurnie’s form has been a huge boost for Paul Heckingbottom. After scoring just once in more than 40 games in the league, the striker has delivered this time around. That improvement was noted by Carl Asaba, who lauded McBurnie earlier in the season.
“Oli McBurnie. Three in three, transformed striker. You know last season much maligned, this season full of energy, constant threat, basically a perfect number nine. I’m just so delighted for him. He’s worked his socks off, great character and he’s a great lad,” Asaba said after his goal at Hull.
Sheff U News View: Sheffield United Need McBurnie Against Norwich
This is a massive game and if we are going to risk McBurnie at any point in the coming games, this is one he needs to feature in.
His partnership with Ndiaye has been absolutely vital to United this season and it’s that partnership that will create problems for Norwich.
Should he miss out, then there will surely be a chance for Rhian Brewster or even a change of shape to accommodate both Brewster and Reda Khadra. But at the end of the day, if McBurnie is able to play, then he has to start.
