Daniel Jebbison to Everton makes sense if it means Sheffield United keep Berge and co

Everton are once again being linked with a move for Sheffield United youngster, Daniel Jebbison, according to reports.

FootballLeagueWorld has claimed that Jebbison is back on the radar of the Toffees, who are having a minor striker crisis already after just one Premier League fixture. Everton chose to sell Richarlison to Tottenham for big money this summer, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also picked up another injury. The ex-Blade is due to miss at least a month, prompting Frank Lampard to consider his options.

Of course, interest in Jebbison from Everton is nothing brand new. It was only last year that reports claimed that both the Toffees and Liverpool were among the teams keeping tabs on ‘Jebbo’.

But should Sheffield United look to cash in on Daniel Jebbison? Or should they stand their ground and continue to try and build a squad around this sort of player? Well, in our opinion, if it means keeping other faces around, then it might be worth considering for the United board.

Keeping Sander Berge Is Sheffield United’s Priority

It’s not that Selling Daniel Jebbison is the ideal scenario for United here. At the end of the day, he’s a young striker with a lot of attributes, and having already started once this season, it’s clear that Paul Heckingbottom rates him highly.

However, the issue for the Blades is that keeping Sander Berge would, as of now, seem more important. The Norwegian is comfortably United’s star player and there’s a feeling if Berge stays around, then promotion is very much in sight. And with Club Brugge said to be looking at Berge, United might feel selling others holds more value for this particular season, if they need to bring some funds into the club.

We all saw United sell Dom Calvert-Lewin for less than £2m a few years ago. Of course, any repeat of that sort of fee would go down like a lead balloon in S2. But should Everton come knocking with around £8-10m, with a sell-on included, then there is a case for United to strongly consider such an offer.

That might just allow United breathing space to fend off all offers for Berge. Further, the Blades do have options up top, with Sharp, McBurnie, Brewster, and young Will Osula all on the books, not to mention the there being excitement around the likes of Will Lankshear and Antwoine Hackford in the academy.

It’s a tricky one for the United board, this. But ultimately, if getting money for Daniel Jebbison from Everton means keeping Berge, then it’s a no-brainer at this moment in time.
