Sheffield United are thought to be super keen on signing Tom Lawrence this summer, with Yorkshire Live confirming he is on Paul Heckingbottom’s wishlist.
Reports last week emerged to suggest Lawrence was indeed a player of interest for the Blades. The former Man United trainee is a free-agent after leaving the Rams this summer. And now, Yorkshire Live have further backed up those initial reports.
It’s claimed that Lawrence is a player who features on Paul Heckingbottom’s list of transfer targets. And while there is interest from Glasgow Rangers and other Championship sides, United feel they are right in the mix for Lawrence.

Should the midfielder arrive, he would plug a gap left by Morgan Gibbs-White returning to Wolves. Lawrence, like Gibbs-White, hit double figures for goals last season. Described as a ‘fabulous‘ talent by his former manager Gary Bowyer, he would certainly be welcomed with open arms by the Bramall Lane faithful.
As well as Lawrence, United are also thought to be keen on signing Spurs winger Jack Clarke. Reports this weekend have suggested talks are already under way over a potential deal there. Tommy Doyle is also signing from Manchester City, while a £3m bid is in for Anel Ahmedhodzic.

Our View: Sheffield United Need Tom Lawrence Signed
In terms of a free transfer who can come in and replace MGW, then they won’t come much better value than Tom Lawrence. Sure, he has had a few off-field problems in his career. But he was outstanding for Derby last year and Wayne Rooney put full trust in him as well.
If United can pull this one off, as well as signing the other names mentioned, then few Blades can grumble about the quality of this window. Lawrence ticks so many boxes, as do many of the other linked players.
