Sheffield United are apparently ready to sell star midfielder Sander Berge for just £10m this summer, according to reports.

Berge starred as he helped United back into the Premier League last season. The Norwegian is entering into the final 12 months of his contract and has, so far, made no push to leave.

However, according to TeamTalk, Berge’s contract situation is troubling United’s board and they could now decide to cash in for as little as £10m.

Sheffield United to sell Sander Berge

TeamTalk reports how Berge’s contract situation has left the United higher-ups with a bit of a dilemma.

After fighting off interest in January and resisting offers from the likes of Fulham, Berge stepped up to the plate for United as he was one of the stars of the promotion run-in.

Having signed for £22m while United were last in the PL, Berge has become a fan favourite and according to Sheff United News sources, is more than happy in Sheffield.

TeamTalk is claiming United could seek a quick £10m in order to reinvest in the squad this summer.

However, with Heckingbottom admitting he doesn’t want to lose anyone else having been forced to let the likes of Sharp and Stevens go, it makes little sense.

Sheff U News View: A disaster of a sale if it happens

Just like with Iliman Ndiaye, selling Sander Berge would be a non-sensical decision from the club and we actually question this report a bit.

Sure, there might be interest in Berge. Likewise, United need money if they do want to rebuild.

But £10m is going to go nowhere at this level. We aren’t getting a player to replace Berge’s quality for that and in that sense, it makes absolutely no sense.

If we were talking £20m and all of that being given to Hecky, then maybe there is an argument to accept such a deal.

But at £10m, and with a small squad as it is, selling Berge would go down like a lead balloon in S2.
