Sheffield United take on Luton Town today in what is arguably the biggest game of the season so far for the Blades.
A win would put United above Derby’s all-time low of eleven points and crucially, put them level with Luton in the table, potentially just two off Nottingham Forest in 17th.
Chris Wilder knows the game is a must-win and a defeat would surely condemn the Blades to relegation before we even hit the new year.
Of course, Wilder is keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to his team selection. The Blades boss was fuming last weekend when his team news was leaked for Aston Villa.
However, we’ve done our best to dissect what might happen and give our predicted XI here.
Blades have options for once
For once, it does look like United might have the choice of mixing things up a bit against the Hatters.
Wilder sprung a surprise in the last game at Villa by playing Yasser Larouci from the start, while Anel Ahmedhodzic was also missing from the back three.
Today, though, United need to go for it if players are fit and ready. If Ahmedhodzic is back, he will come into the XI with George Baldock likely to move to wing-back.
Andre Brooks is likely to keep his place having played well again at Villa Park. James McAtee will fancy his chances, while Max Lowe will hope to get the nod over Larouci down the left.
Gustavo Hamer should also return to the starting line up after his assist for Cameron Archer. Likewise, Archer could be joined up top by Oli McBurnie, given we are at home.
Finally, Rhian Brewster is said to have been back training and he could be given a chance from the bench.
Wilder, then, could have some big calls to make come 3pm.
