SUTV pundit and former Blade, Kevin Gage, has been piling the praise on new signing Anel Ahmedhodzic, following United’s win over Millwall.
United won out easily against the Lions at Bramall Lane, as goals from Iliman Ndiaye and then Sander Berge ensured it was the perfect start at home for Paul Heckingbottom’s side. It could have been more, too, as Oli Norwood missed a penalty just before half-time.
However, there was lots to like about United’s display. And one of the big plus-points was seeing new signing Ahmedhodzic make his debut for the club. Indeed, following the game, Kevin Gage felt the United new man looked like he’d been with the club for years.
“Wow. I’m so pleased he had a good game. We’d seen enough in the pre-season games to instantly know what a good player he was. And he just looked like he’d been a Sheffield United player for years,” Gage said on SUTV.

“It’s uncanny the resemblance he has to Chris Basham as well, physically. I just thought he was absolutely magnificent.
“First half we saw the best of him going forward. Second half we saw what he’s all about defensively. Made some crucial blocks, got his head on things, strong in the tackle. Just a wonderful, wonderful debut.”
Our View: Ahmedhodzic Impresses For Sheffield United On Debut
Iliman Ndiaye pointed it out as well after the game, but there was so much to like about Anel Ahmedhodzic’s debut for Sheffield United.
The points made from Kevin Gage are bang on as well. There were times Ahmedhodzic looked like he’d been playing under Heckingbottom and United’s system for years, and there was so much promise there.
If Ahmedhodzic can continue his fine form shown on debut, then United might have unearthed a gem of a defender here, with £3m already looking a bit like a bargain.
