Sheffield United’s injury crisis in the last month has been nothing short of ridiculous. A full first XI of players have been missing at times, with a number of under-23s players being given their chance at first-team level. However, there are signs that things are easing at the club.

Against Barnsley, the likes of Oli McBurnie, John Fleck, and Enda Stevens all returned to the fold. And in pictures released from training today on the club’s official Twitter account, there is more good news for Blades fans.

Despite his injury worries, Fleck has been pictured back among first-team training as he looks to build himself back up ahead of the Stoke City clash in 10 days. Meanwhile, in an even bigger boost, George Baldock has also been pictured training after missing the last month or so.

Our View: Baldock Return Massive For Sheffield United

Of all the positions that United need someone back involved in, it’s that right wing-back slot. Ben Osborn has done well stepping in but we all know what George Baldock brings.

As well as the natural balance the team needs, Baldock brings added speed, aggression, and a knowledge of the system that he’s been part of for four seasons or so now. With Jayden Bogle out injured, Baldock is the next best option for United in that position.

It’s nice to see Fleck involved fully again, too. Fleck made a fleeting appearance against Barnsley but Sheffield United needs a fit and consistent John Fleck. Interestingly, the Scottish midfielder put in one of his best performances of the season against Middlesbrough, the game he was injured in.

All in all, though, this is good news for the Blades. In an ideal world, we get everyone back from int’l duty fit and with the likes of Baldock and co back in action, the entire team will have a renewed freshness about it.
