Club Brugge striker Emmanuel Dennis has been a name that has been linked with Sheffield United for a number months now.
Back in May, the Examiner claimed that United had been given the ‘green light’ to make a bid for the Nigerian striker, who impressed in Belgium last season.

The Blades have landed four new players this week and Chris Wilder has hinted that a fifth could be on the way in the coming days. It is, then, widely expected that any new signing will be a striker.
Talk among some fans has, naturally, started to turn towards Dennis once again, given he has yet to leave Brugge and nobody has stumped up the cash for him.
But looking at the latest reports on Dennis, it would appear safe to rule the Blades out of the running.

Why Sheffield United won’t be signing Emmanuel Dennis
Regardless of how exciting it might be to bring in a striker from Europe who has impressed in the Champions League and beyond, it’s a signing we simply won’t be making.
Score Nigeria have reported yesterday that Club Brugge are still holding out for £25m for their man. It claims that Marseille has become the latest club to register an interest in Dennis, although no bid has come as yet.

It goes without saying, then, that there is simply no way United are paying that sort of money on a player who is a relative unknown in the English game.
The next Blades signing will be a loan deal if local reports are to be believed. That means Rhian Brewster or Leon Dajaku are likely to come in, although Chris Wilder may pull a surprise name out of the bag.
Of course, we might be left with egg on our faces. But for now, I think it’s safe to rule out the signing of Emmanuel Dennis.
