It seems a while ago now that Sheffield United fans got their hopes up over a deal to bring in Manchester United winger, Amad Diallo.

Back in the summer months, hopes of a move for Diallo grew as reports suggested that the Manchester United starlet was a target for the Blades.

The Daily Mail claimed United were among a cluster of clubs keen on landing Diallo. As we all know, the youngster picked up an injury to prevent any move away, albeit he was set to join Feyenoord in the end anyway.

Instead of Diallo, Slavisa Jokanovic opted to bring in Morgan Gibbs-White, while Iliman Ndiaye was brought in from the cold to help United’s suffering attack.

However, per respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Diallo is now due back in training in 10 days. With that, a host of clubs are expected to scrap it out in January for the Red Devils man.

Diallo to Sheffield United? Maybe in our dreams but you never know

January will be a big month for the Blades. Of course, we need to see where we sit in the Championship table. But you suspect that if we are pushing for the top six at least, then Jokanovic might get some backing in the loan market.

Diallo, then, would be a near perfect addition. Despite the improvement in performances, this Blades side still lacks wingers. It lacks players – Gibbs-White aside – who can carry the ball, beat a man, and create chances in those areas.

Naturally, there’ll be a huge clamour for Diallo. Feyenoord will likely come back for him, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will want to carefully assess where he sends the young winger. But, the Blades did treat Dean Henderson very well, and that has to work in our favour.

In all likelihood, the Blades will miss out when it comes to Amad Diallo. But we can always hold hope, and in football, you just never know.
