Sheffield United are trying to get ahead of the rest in the loan market and are knocking on the door of Premier League champions, Manchester City.
The Blades had both Tommy Doyle and James McAtee on loan last season and both were huge success stories at Bramall Lane.
However, neither look set to return any time soon and so United are apparently making other plans just in case.
And according to Alan Nixon, one of those plans could be Manchester City forward, Cole Palmer.
Reporting via his Patreon account, Nixon has claimed that United have made it known to City that they would be keen on taking Palmer off their hands this summer. The Blades have also asked about getting McAtee back as well, although Pep Guardiola is delaying a decision on the youngster for now.
Palmer was part of the successful Euro winning squad for the England under-21s this summer. He is see as one of the top up and coming players at City and has featured heavily under Guardiola off the bench.

With losing Iliman Ndiaye, Sheffield United need to replace the creative spark they’ve lost. That means goals and assists need replacing and Cole Palmer would go a long way to helping that cause.
Palmer has impressed a lot for both City and England and is obviously ready to take the next step in his development.
The Blades would do well to get Palmer here. We are well placed, too, given Guardiola knows we will treat his players well and develop them.
If United can’t get McAtee, then Palmer is a viable alternative and a player who can make a real difference.
