Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Leeds United winger, Crysencio Summerville, according to a report from The Athletic today.

The Blades are in the market for a new creative attacking force after losing Morgan Gibbs-White. The Wolves man returned to Molineux after a superb season and United now have a gaping hole in terms of their attacking threat. And with doubts over the future of Sander Berge, Paul Heckingbottom needs reinforcements.

The Athletic reports how United and Forest hold and interest in Summerville, who is known for being one of the most exciting players in the Leeds squad. Indeed, Pascal Struijk spoke highly of the winger, admitting he was just as hard to face in training as Brazilian star, Raphinha.

Summerville has impressed massively at under-23 level for Leeds, with one performance described as being ‘absolutely frightening’ not so long ago.

When it comes to first-team football, it’s not been quite so kind as yet for Summerville. The Dutchman has made nine appearances for the Whites so far, with six of those coming last season.

Summerville could be sent out on loan to get game time this summer, as Jesse Marsch looks to re-balance his squad ahead of another long season.

Our View: Summerville Has The Potential To Shine For Sheffield United

Replacing Gibbs-White is always going to be difficult but United could do far worse than look at Summerville.

The Dutch winger has something about him that gets fans up off their seats. That’s what Gibbs-White did so well. He got the Bramall Lane crowd excited when he got on the ball, and Summerville is of similar ilk.

Of course, he has a long way to go before being the finished article. But that’s what loan spells are for, and the Blades fans could be in for a treat if Summerville does indeed sign.
