Report: Bundesliga club now want to sign Sheffield United player in January

Sheffield United and Reda Khadra are ready to part ways it seems, with a move to Germany with Schalke 04 potentially on the cards.

Khadra’s loan spell with the Blades has been a bit of a nightmare. Barring one goal to win it at Swansea City, the German under-21 international has failed to impress in the limited game time he’s had.

The young Brighton winger has been a victim of United enjoying success without him, as well as his natural position simply not fitting into how Paul Heckingbottom wants to play.

And after Hecky admitted the process has started to send Khadra back to Brighton, Alan Nixon reports how Khadra now has an offer from Schalke.

Nixon states how both Birmingham and Bristol City want to sign Khadra as well. However, the 21-year-old is thought to favour a move back home, with Schalke an attractive option.

Khadra was seen as one of the most exciting signings of the summer by United. But a lack of opportunity and then a failure to really grasp any chance he has had, has seen him slip down the pecking order.

Paul Heckingbottom has left Khadra out of the squad completely in the last few games. The Blades boss is hoping to be able to use the money being spent on Khadra’s wages to add a new face.

Sheff U News View: Khadra just one of those deals that hasn’t worked

Not every single transfer always works out. That’s just how football goes and while we all thought Khadra was a brilliant signing, it’s just not happened.

There’s a bit of sympathy from us towards the player himself. He’s not been given a run of games in a position he’s comfortable with, and with that, he’s looked short of what’s required.

On the flipside, Heckingbottom sees him every day and he’s clearly not done enough. The fact Hecky opted with players like Brooks and Jebbison over him in recent weeks says a lot.

United will have to just mark this one down as a failed move and crack on. If we can get a replacement in January, then that’s even better.
