Lys Mousset came roaring back to life for Sheffield United today as he scored twice for the Blades in a 3-2 win against Yorkshire rivals, Barnsley.
The Blades raced into a 3-0 second-half lead and should have had the game put firmly to bed before the Reds staged a good late comeback. Devante Cole, once a Sheffield United target, scored to give the Oakwell crowd hope, before a second meant a frantic finish. But United, to their credit, dug deep and held on.

For Lys Mousset, it was a welcome return to both the starting XI and to form for the Frenchman. His time in red and white has been frustrating. But his double today means it’s three for the season, although he did leave the field injured, according to Slavisa Jokanovic.
Mousset scored two good goals. His first, in particular, was a fine individual effort from outside the box. And according to former Blades defender Rob Kozluk, United need to see more of this going forward.
Impact
Every Sheffield United fan knows how good Mousset can be. He’s torn Premier League defences to shreds, so the talent is there with him.
MORE UNITED STORIES
And speaking to SUTV Live today, those thoughts were echoed by former full-back Rob Kozluk, who says United fans will want to see more of the same from ‘Moose’.
“Yeah we spoke about it at half-time. Mousset can offer you this. It’s just pure effort and instinct. He comes inside, and that’s what Mousset’s about,” he said.
“He’s got that in him. But we just need to see more and more of it. It’s a brilliant finish.”
Mousset could have had a hat-trick on the day too. He came close to connecting with an Oli McBurnie cross, and then had a glorious chance just after his second to grab another which he fired over.
But Kozluk is right here. Mousset can do the business. Jokanovic and Blades fans will be hoping his injury is nothing new and just a bit of tiredness. If he can stay fit, then the Blades have one of the best in the division on his day.
